My ambition is to photograph a world inaccessible to our eyes, which nonetheless makes up the space around us. The extremes of our universe. I would also like to bring about a kind of scientific poetry, since these disciplines are often perceived as relatively cold and dispassionate.

Through this poetry and through my gaze, I would like to provoke the public’s awareness of the natural beauty of science itself.

When Copernicus discovered that it was the Earth which revolved around the Sun, we were no longer at the centre of the universe; we depended on a centre that was outside ourselves. Then Galileo observed the moons of Jupiter. In this way, one centre was replaced by many.

To me, science is an art.

Before they are explanations for the universe that surrounds us, scientific theories are thoughts in the fertile imaginations of researchers. Because it takes creativity to conceive of a world beyond our field of perception.

We can picture the scale of a pinhead, or of a mountain; we can remember our grandparents, and we worry about the future of our children. These are the spatiotemporal extremes that lie within the grasp of the human species. And yet, since the dawn of our curiosity about the world, scholastic communities have sought to dream beyond these constraints of space and time, and to understand the foundations of that which surrounds us.
